Due to declining membership, Wood-Ridge Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3616 and Wood-Ridge American Legion Post #97 have each surrendered their respective charters and merged with posts in neighboring communities. VFW members are now members of Post #3149 in Carlstadt and American Legion members are now members of Post #310 in Little Ferry.
As a result, and at the request of our local veterans, Wood-Ridge will not host a parade this Memorial Day. Instead, Wood-Ridge veterans will participate in the Carlstadt parade to be held on Monday, May 27th, 2019. The Carlstadt parade will start at 9am at the American Legion Hall on 3rd Street, proceed to the Carlstadt Borough Hall, then to the veterans’ monument on Hackensack Street and then to Berry’s Lawn Cemetery on 7th Street where the parade will conclude.
The Borough of Wood-Ridge is very thankful for the sacrifice of all of our Wood-Ridge veterans who protected our freedom and liberty through their military service. The Borough also gratefully acknowledges the many decades of community service and financial sponsorship that the members of VFW Post #3616 and American Legion Post #97, respectively, provided to our town, our schools, our recreation programs, and our civic organizations.
