Registration for the 2009 Summer Recreation Program
will be open in the spring.

Registration for the 2009 Summer Recreation Program will be held at the Recreation Office anytime the office is open through Friday June 19 th. You can also register now through June 19 th online at www.njwoodridge.org and pay by credit card. Remember however that any registration received after June 19th will be subject to a late fee of $50 per child. There will be no exceptions this year.

Please Note: The program is open to Wood-Ridge Residents only who will be entering grades 1st through 8th grade only this September. Proof of residence may be required.

The program will run from Monday June 29th through Friday July 31st. The hours for the program will be 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. There will be no recreation on Friday July 3rd due to the Independence Day Holiday. Children may bring a snack each day if they wish. Parents please make sure that your child does not wear “heelys” (shoes with wheels) to recreation. If your child does wear heelys, you will be called and your child will be sent home for the day and not be allowed to return to recreation for the remainder of the day. Please make sure that your child leaves his or her valuables at home. This includes game boys, IPOD’s, radios etc. The only valuable that Wood-Ridge recreation is responsible for is your child.

This year 1 st and 2nd graders will have Summer Recreation at the Civic Center, 495 Highland Avenue under the direction of Ms. Davida Gotha. All 3 rd through 8 th graders will have Summer Recreation at the WRHS facility under the direction of Program Director, Ms. Melissa Manolakakis and Athletic Director Mr. Ed Rendzio. When registering, the child’s grade is the grade that the child is entering in the fall of 2009.

The fee due at registration is $100.00 per child and $50 for each additional sibling, $150 for two children (siblings), $200 for three children (siblings) and $250 for four or more children (siblings). Please note:Any family that registers after June 19th will be charged a late fee of $50 (fifty) per child. Early registration is necessary in ordering our supplies & booking trips. Permission slips will be distributed at registration, are available online at www.njwoodridge.org and are available at the recreation office. Permission slips must be signed and returned to recreation prior to the day of the trip.

If the permission slip is not received two days before the trip, the child will not be eligible to go on the trip and should not come to summer recreation that day (permission slips should be returned on the first day of recreation if possible). Please take care in signing the permission slips because this is how we order buses etc. and it is imperative that we schedule our trips appropriately and at a minimal cost. A new t-shirt will be distributed to all children as part of the registration process (T-shirts will once again be distributed during the first week of Summer Recreation) and must be worn on all trips.

Some of the activities offered include:

Trips include trips to the Movie Theatre in Rutherford for each facility, a trip to Inline Skating in Wallington for the WRHS facility, and trip to Darlington Lake for the WRHS facility, and a Wacky Waterslide Wednesday at each facility. There will also be a special Splash Days for grades 1 & 2 at the Civic Center facility. The 1 st & 2nd grade children (Civic Center Site) may be brought to the Tot Park on Valley Boulevard. We also offer daily Arts-n-crafts, games, contests, field day, theatre program/talent show, specialty days, field sports & loads of fun!
